Preparation of high-temperature gels for enhanced oil recovery using methyl etherized melamine-formaldehyde resin

Polymer gels are the most commonly used materials in petroleum industry for reservoir conformance control and resolving excessive water production problems. In this study, high-temperature were prepared with HPAM or AM/AMPS as gel-forming agent, methyl etherified melamineformaldehyde resin (MEMFR) crosslinker, nano-silica stabilizer, their properties evaluated. The results showed that HPAM-MEMFR unstable at 110°C a brine of 20665 mg/L. AM/AMPS-MEMFR stable 110°C, gelation time ranging from 15 h to 92 storage modulus 3.6 Pa 50 Pa. gel has less than 10% dehydration after aging 90 days, almost no shrinkage volume, significant increase strength, making it suitable material enhanced oil recovery.
